Job Description

The Assistant Director for Health Education and Promotion, Health and Counseling Services, is responsible for the development and execution of an institutional wide, comprehensive health promotion program. The position solicits a wide range of Eastern Illinois University and Charleston constituencies through the planning and delivery of theory-based, evidence-based, and evidence-informed health promotion programs, services, and policies targeting individuals, groups, communities and the campus/community environment. This civil service position is classified as a program director, and reports to the Director, Health and Counseling Services.

Qualifications

Required job qualifications include: Master's Degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Public Health, Community Nutrition/Dietetics, Human Services, Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, or related field; A minimum of three year’s (36 months) related health education/promotion paid work/practitioner experience; and a minimum of one year’s (12 months) supervisory experience overseeing entry-level employees, interns, practicum students, and volunteers.

Preferred qualifications include: paid professional work experience as a health education/promotion practitioner within a higher education setting; and Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES), Certified in Public Health (CPH), Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or similar designation.
