Job Description

The University of Illinois at Chicago - UIC HR Compensation department is seeking an experienced Human Resource Associate (Compensation Analyst). This position will provide transactional support within Compensation as well as specialized services related to the implementation and maintenance of UIC’s compensation and classification systems and programs. Provides detailed information, guidance and support on standard compensation issues involving the interpretation and application of compensation policies, guidelines, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:
• Review and approve all new hire Civil Service Requisitions and Academic Professional job descriptions through the Hire Touch Application System. Provide guidance to departments in regards to civil service classifications, qualifications and job families. Prepare and support classification recommendations; develop and/or revise job descriptions.
• Create and maintain all Civil Service position numbers. Ensure Banner is updated with the most accurate position information by working collaboratively with various departments.
• Ensure data integrity by working with UIC HR Information Services (HRIS) and Administrative Information Technology Services (AITS) to ensure that all systems meet compensation needs and are updated according to required changes.
• Maintain the Civil Service reclassification and reallocation process. Review all requests and corresponding job descriptions for accuracy and consistency in titling and job responsibility. Counsel departments on Civil Service hiring and employment-related matters.
• Review, approve and enter Compensation related system transactions into Banner. This includes, but is not limited to, position data corrections, lump sum increases, and temporary upgrades/supplemental pay.
• Participate in annual salary surveys as assigned.
• Serve on project teams and work groups to provide all necessary compensation guidance, data analysis and facilitate reporting needs, including collective bargaining agreement implementation.
• Monitor and audit pay practices to ensure compliance with policies, guidelines, and wage and hour laws. Conduct job analysis, conducts benchmark reviews and market price jobs.
• Perform job analysis to determine correct classification. Assist with administration of the classification and compensation plan, including reviewing and approving overcompensation requests, salary equity studies, base pay recommendations and salary structure maintenance.
• Maintain compensation policy and procedure documentation.
• Provide compensation related guidance on issues, programs and policies. Answer client and manager questions regarding Compensation issues, including monitoring and fielding emails sent to general question inboxes related to Compensation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in human resources administration, labor relations, business administration, or a field related to the position
2. Two years of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties
3. Demonstrated experience in the analysis, design and/or administration of compensation programs, preferably in a higher academic setting.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws relating to compensation and pay equity.
• Working knowledge of MS Office suite.
• Skill in using office computer information systems to organize, store, manipulate and retrieve data.
• Effective verbal and written communications skills.
• Critical thinking skills.
• Ability to plan, organize and effectively manage multiple assignments.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Focused on providing a high level of customer service and follow-through.
