Job Description

The Lead Identity and Access Management (IAM) Administrator works as a team member in the Office of Identity and Access Management (OIAM) and is primarily responsible for leading day-to-day IAM functions across the organization, including the selection, design, configuration, maintenance, and management of the University's IAM systems.

The position is responsible for the integration of the IAM systems with other information systems at the University. This position will also provide support to personnel in the Information Security Office for developing appropriate audit controls and procedures within the IAM systems.

The Lead IAM Administrator is responsible for developing and maintaining all system and procedure documentation pertaining to IAM systems. Additionally, this role will serve as a subject-matter-expert on IAM issues, best practices, and emerging technologies in the field.

This position is a permanent team member of the OIAM and will regularly work with matrix-reporting team members within the infrastructure and applications units of the department.


1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Security, Information Technology, Computer Science or closely related field
Four (4) years directly related work experience related to Identity and Access Management
2. At least four (4) years of work experience performing the following:
a. Conducting independent research and application of critical reasoning skills to solve technical issues.
b. Supporting client-server applications running on either Windows or Linux server operating systems.
c. Working with diverse teams to assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of business information systems.
3. At least two (2) years of work experience performing the following:
a. Self-management of assigned projects and daily tasks in an environment with shifting priorities
b. Designing, building, and administering account and access management systems.
c. Working with technical and non-technical staff to develop and implement IAM best practices.
d. Supporting IT operations for provisioning and de-provisioning user accounts
e. Developing and documenting environment design diagrams
4. Demonstrated ability to follow established procedures, even in a high-pressure situation.
5. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, including the ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience.
6. Familiarity with information security compliance and best practices, including COBITS, PCI, NIST, ISO, and information security related federal and state laws and regulations, including privacy protection, identity protection, HIPAA, FERPA, records retention requirements, and CALEA.
7. Knowledge of, and familiarity with, cloud service providers and their security practices, server operating systems, directory systems such as Active Directory and LDAP, an ITSM or ticketing solution, and system vulnerability scanning.
8. Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation certification within 12 months of hire
9. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.


$75,000 - $85,000 annually
