Job Description

The Retention Specialist provides individual and programmatic support to students during their academic transition to and continued enrollment at the University. This position is responsible for developing and delivering programs such as LSAMP (support for underrepresented students in the STEM fields), University Scholars Enrichment Program (a scholarship program) and the MASAI mentor program that aid in the persistence and graduation of participants. The advisor may serve as the primary point of contact for High School to College partners (OneGoal, Bottom Line, Noble Charter School Network, and Phoenix Pact, for example) and intervene with students from these networks as necessary. The position will serve as a primary resource and mentor for students during all aspects of their educational career and will coordinate with other campus offices that can meet the student needs. This position may supervise a graduate assistants and/or student employees.

**2 positions available - 1 position is permanent/12 months, 1 position is up to 12 months.**

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree.

2. One (1) year of professional work experience in one or a combination of the following:
a. performing in an administrative position in a university or college administrative office
b. performing in an advisor and/or counselor position, preferably in higher education

3. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, then employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.

Salary

$3,248 per month
