Job Description

The Charge Nurse supervises direct reports by using independent problem solving skills to initiate and maintain safe, professional, and efficient clinical practices in order to promote an optimal level of health services for the students. Performs duties in accordance with accepted standards of nursing practice and the health service policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

1. Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois.

2. Three years of work experience as a Registered Professional Nurse or 2 years work experience as a Registered Professional Nurse with 1 year of supervisory experience.

3. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.



Desired Qualifications:

1. Previous direct supervision of a healthcare team such as, LPN, RN, CMA, and medical office staff.
2. Knowledge and experience in local, state, and federal regulatory agencies which impact SHS.
3. Experience working with young adults and working with an interdisciplinary team.
4. Previous experience with supervision of clinical supply demand.
5. Previous experience with evaluating performance of direct reports.
6. Previous experience with developing and/or reviewing policies, procedures, protocols, and /or standing orders.
7. Strong problem solving skills and communication skills.
8. Previous experience in coordination of work assignments for direct reports.
9. Ability to function without direct supervision.
