Job Description

This position serves as a Grant Support Specialist in the College of Education at Illinois State University. The incumbent has the primary role of working with principal investigators across college departments, school, and centers to identify, prepare, edit, submit, and manage external grants. The incumbent will also serve as liaison between the principal investigators and related support offices (agencies, on-campus support units, etc.).


1. Master's degree in a field related to the position

2. Demonstrated ability to produce high-level, scholarly contributions in the field of higher education

3. A minimum of 5 years of full time or part-time equivalent experience as a journal reviewer or editor for peer-reviewed articles or journals in the field of education

4. A minimum of 5 years of full time or part-time equivalent experience working with federal and non-federal grants, as well as the pre- and post-award process

5. Knowledge of institutional history, mission, and vision

6. History of successfully securing and managing a minimum of 5 grants from external funding agencies (state, federal, international).

7. Ability to work independently on large, complex editing assignments within tight time constraints

If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, then employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
