Job Description

The Program Coordinator for Student Relations serves as a member of the Career Services Student Relations Team and acts as the primary resource of information to external and internal campus constituents regarding programs sponsored by Career Services.

The Student Relations Team functions as a bridge that connects the Career Services Employer Engagement functional area with the University Academic Affairs campus partners. The primary function is to coordinate programs and/or events focused on engaging and collaborating with student academic interests relating to career interests and employers in their recruitment efforts for their businesses and organizations. Goals include student participation and career development preparation of students seeking career success. Illinois State University alumni are also invited to participate in events that are consistent with career and employment industry trends. The Student Relations Team enhances its strategies in collaboration with Career Services functional areas and utilizes graduate assistants, practicum students, and interns.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s or equivalent degree

2. Twelve months of experience:
a. with student program planning and assessing student learning outcomes.
b. in the areas of student program coordination, student services, developing programs to support career services objectives of career development, and/or career readiness for students.

(Note: Master’s degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for 12 months of work experience)

3. Demonstrated experience in employer relations

4. Ability to coordinate multiple events/programs

5. Proven ability to think critically and creatively

6. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals of diverse cultures and/or backgrounds and collaborate with multiple and diverse constituents to accomplish goals designed to support diversity, equity, and inclusion.

7. Proven ability to develop appropriate alliances with internal and external constituents to deliver events efficiently and effectively

Desired Qualifications
1. Experience conducting program evaluation including the measurement of student learning outcomes.

2. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and implement programs.

3. Proven ability to work with administrators, faculty, and staff.

4. Direct experience in career planning and development.

5. Demonstrated ability to utilize career development-related software. (e.g. Nacelink, Interview Stream, Focus, etc.)

6. Understanding of career development theory.


Salary

$21.53 - $22.56 per hour

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
