Job Description
This position assists the Thomas Metcalf Elementary School preschool classroom teacher in a variety of duties related to the teaching and management of the preschool students using a variety of technology tools. This position teaches lessons, uses assessment tools, completes paperwork, and meets the emotional and hygienic needs of the students. This position assists with benchmark testing procedures and with Before & After School duties. This position may be asked to work with Metcalf students and teachers in other grade levels and with administrative support duties on days when Metcalf is closed but Illinois State University is open.
This position is subject to academic break layoff, late-May through mid-August.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
1. Must be at least nineteen (19) years of age.
2. Any one (1) of the following:
a. High school diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Parapro Assessment.
b. High school diploma or GED and the following scores on the ACT Workkeys:
- Applied Mathematics/Applied Math (with a score of 4)
- Reading for information/Workplace Documents (with a score of 4)
c. Associate’s degree or higher.
d. Sixty (60) semester hours of coursework.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Career-related experience working with early childhood learners.
2. College coursework in early childhood/elementary education.
3. Basic technology skills and knowledgeable about current technology.
4. Possession of Educator License with Stipulations (PEL-S) OR Substitute Teacher License.
Salary
$13.47 - $17.52 per hour
