Job Description
This position requires knowledge of all financial aid programs but extensive knowledge about scholarships and grants. Duties for this position include advising students, parents, and staff about scholarship application processes, reviewing applicant data for accuracy, and processing scholarships received. Other duties include reconciling accounts and processing Return of Title IV funds calculations which requires heavy use and understanding of Excel. Serving as a representative of the Scholarship Resource Office at Outreach activities held during work hours is also a requirement. The position directly affects the timely delivery of financial aid funds to students. A high level of accountability is expected because the position is to be available to counsel customers and answer telephone calls. The position requires flexibility and openness to change in dealing with and implementing the annual changes to state and federal program regulations.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or any combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the following categories:
- course work in business administration, communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, psychology, education or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
A. professional work experience in customer service, marketing, public relations, or a closely related field.
3. Possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience working in financial aid, knowledge of grants and scholarships, mathematical aptitude, organizational skills, time management skills, familiarity with computerized databases, and oral and written communication ability preferred.
2. Experience with Excel and Access databases strongly preferred.
Salary
$18.25 – $23.73/hour
