Job Description
The Application Administrator works within a team environment to maintain, optimize, and provide technical expertise for enterprise and business level information systems (Software Applications and Hardware Components). The incumbent oversees Enterprise and/or Business Applications acting as a Systems Administrator for off the shelf or open-source business processing software tools for IT (ServiceNow, SolarWinds Orion, Confluence, GitLab), Finance/Accounting Packages (Ellucian Colleague, TouchNet), Learning Management (Canvas), Facilities (WebTMA), Scheduling, Planning, etc.
Primary responsibilities for this position include software installation, patching, performance tuning, configuration, documentation, and troubleshooting and/or coordinating those with a managed services provided. In addition, the Application Administrator will assist in continuous improvement and innovation to enhance customer experience and the ROI with each application they support.

The Application Services (APPS) team develops, administers, and delivers quality application services to the University. They work on enterprise and business applications, such as PeopleSoft, Canvas, and others.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Any one or any combination totaling two years (24 months) from the following categories:
a. College coursework which includes Information Technology, IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one year (12 months)
- 60 semester hours or Associate’s degree equals 18 months
- 90 semester hours equals two years (24 months)
- Bachelor’s or higher degree equals three years (36 months)
b. Progressively more responsible work experience in an application administration related profession.
Knowledge of server and/or application systems administration, including things like installation, configuration, patching, backups, firewall settings, and event monitoring
Experience with ITSM, ticketing, and issue tracking
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of and experience with:
a. source control such as GitLab
b. different Server Operating Systems such as Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux
c. containerization software such as Docker, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Amazon Elastic Container Service, etc.
Experience with/on:
a. applications with more than 1000 users
b. deploying and maintaining software on physical servers, virtual servers, and in container-based platforms
c. Virtual Computing using VMware specific technologies
d. Cloud Computing (Amazon AWS, Azure, etc.)
e. common higher education administrative systems
General understanding of underlying database technologies and ability to use 1 or more common SQL query/reporting tools such as SQL Developer, TOAD, Cognos, SSRS, Crystal Reports, etc.
Knowledge of:
a. Web Server Software such as Apache, IIS, Tomcat, WebLogic
b. IT Infrastructure Hardware such as Servers, Storage, Networking, Backups
Familiarity with Single Sign-On concepts and understanding of Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) technologies
Ability to:
a. leverage Microsoft Word, Visio, and Excel
b. work independently and in a team environment with good communication and collaboration skills
c. create good technical documentation that is useful to other team members and various audiences
d. adapt quickly to new technologies and changing business requirements
Strong customer service skills along with a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality and reliability
Strong project, analysis, and research skills
Foundation qualification in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
Salary
$58,000 - $75,000 annual
