Job Description

-Participates and presents health services and education during orientation events and other events as assigned.

-Assists Senior Health Education Coordinator with mentoring and managing Student Health Ambassadors.

-Collaborates with academic and student affairs to promote programming and health education.

-Collects, analyzes, and interprets data to assess program effectiveness and inform decision-making.

-Assists with community partners and research in expanding resources and collaborations.

-Assists in the development of marketing strategies.

-Assists in marketing department services, programs and events through social media, bulletin boards, electronic message boards, flyers, university targeted announcements (TA), tabling, etc.

-Department website management and organization.

-Purchase and organize health education swag, giveaways, and supplies while tracking budget needs.

-Assistance with Health Services as needed to support the department.

-Supports Health Services and Health Education needs at El Centro and Carruthers's Center for Inner City Studies in their respective locations as needed.

-Participation in university committees.

-Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

1. Bachelor's Degree (120 hours) in public, mental, and/or medical health education, social work, psychology, student personnel/affairs, nursing, education or communications.

2. Two (2) years (24 months) of experience conducting professional presentations, seminars or closely related programs and/or providing health education.

Note: An applicant with a Master's degree in an area of health education qualifies with one year of professional communications and/or health education experience

Note: Possession of a Certified Health Education Specialist and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialist certification meets the requirements of #1 and #2 above. (http://www.nchec.org)

DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES:

-Master’s degree in Public Health or other related degree(s).

-At least one year of professional experience in a Student Affairs unit with programming initiatives.

-Mental Health First Aid Certification.

-3 years of experience in higher education employment.

-Proficient in data analysis using related software (ie, Excel or Tableau).

Experience and knowledge of large- and small-scale event planning with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and community partners.

-Experience with curriculum development.

-Ability to design, implement, and evaluate health education programs and interventions.

-Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively educate and engage diverse audiences.

-Strong public speaking skills.

-Strong organization and time management skills, and effective problem-solving abilities.

-Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).

-Proficient in the Spanish language.
