Job Description

Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for full-time, Campus Recreation Coordinator for the Student Recreational Center. This position will provide a broad range of informal and intramural programs for the campus community. This program coordinator is responsible for the operation of the Student Rec Center and any peripheral facilities supervised by Campus Recreation. In addition, this position supervises up to 100 student employees and 4 graduate assistants. Finally, this person supervises all technology, marketing, and social media needs for Campus Recreation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Facility Management
Facility inspections
Preventative and equipment maintenance
Purchasing of all equipment and supplies
Work orders
Maintaining contractual warranties
Facility security
Manage all Campus Recreation technology
Prepare and present annual goals and objectives for the program
Performs related duties as assigned.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
Skill in analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
Skill in scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
Skill in oral and written communication
Ability to adjust actions in relation to others' actions.
Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
Ability to develop goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
Ability to work effectively with staff, the public, and outside constituency groups
Ability to effectively plan, delegate, and supervise the work of others.
Ability to utilize various computer software packages, such as Accounting Software, query, etc.
Ability to work independently and exercise judgment in order to be able to analyze and investigate a variety of questions or problems
Ability to analyze and develop guidelines, procedures and systems


Work Hours

The core work hours of this position are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.

Starting Salary/Pay Rate Range

Current starting pay rate for this position is $3,959.00/ monthly

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree.
A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
A total of one (1) year (12 months) experience supervising students (UG and GR) in a recreation/gym environment; Experience scheduling facilities and staff including intramurals, classes, special events, and rentals; Experience with DSE, Fusion, ActiveNet, RecTrac, or other rec management software; Experience managing and directing renovation projects
Preferred Qualifications:

First Aid/CPR/AED instructor license
Fitness equipment maintenance technician certification (LifeFitness, Precor, etc.)
