Title 2.1 Admission of Applicants to Original entry or Promotional Examinations

Subsection 2. Admission of Applicants

Applicants who are

  • not current employees, or
  • who are applying for admission to examinations for entry-level classes in promotional lines, or
  • who are applying for admission to examinations for classes that are not a part of any promotional line
shall be admitted to Original Entry examinations providing they possess the minimum acceptable qualifications for the class.

Applicants who are

  • current employees of a class in a promotional line who have successfully completed a probationary period in a class in that promotional line and
  • who are applying for admission to the examination for a higher class in that promotional line
shall be admitted to the Promotional Examination for that class providing they possess the minimum acceptable qualifications for the class.

NOTE: By definition, a status employee is “an employee who has successfully completed a probationary period in a class”. Therefore, probationary employees of classes in a promotional line shall be admitted to promotional examinations for higher level classes in that line providing they have successfully completed a probationary period in a class in that promotional line.
