Job Description

To install and maintain electrical equipment during its use, construction, remodeling or repair.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
1. High school graduation or equivalent.
2. Experience sufficient to qualify as a journeyman Electrician, with a minimum of five (5) years of actual work in the trade, including apprenticeship and/or vocational training. The trade for this purpose shall include work normally performed by Electricians i.e. installing, maintaining, and/or repairing electrical systems, generators, transformers, motors and other electrical/electronic controls, electrical switchboard and other apparatus utilizing electricity, electrical, electronic, and direct digital control systems, fire and alarm systems, and associated electrical, electronic and fiber optic equipment.
3. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam. Employment is contingent on the successful result of the pre-employment physical.

Desired Qualifications
1. Must have proficient computer skills, or must be willing AND able to learn.
2. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the National Electric Code and University Building Standards.
3. Electrical knowledge to recognize unsafe or faulty conditions in construction and utilization of electricity.
4. Extensive experience reading, interpreting and working from electrical drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams and blueprints.
5. Professional skills to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment of various types.
6. Must be able to perform all tasks associated with skilled journeymen electricians.
7. Must have a valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle.
8. Skills in the use of tools and equipment.
