Job Description
The function of the Office Support Specialist is to coordinate a Campus Area Office to coincide with the University and Residence Hall guidelines for efficient operation of the residence halls. The Office Support Specialist is to work with instruction, as the personal assistant to the Area Coordinator, Residence Hall Coordinators, Service Area Coordinators and Graduate Assistants. A wide variety of secretarial tasks are performed which require the use of judgment and initiative. An excellent knowledge of the organization, programs, practices, and procedures of the residence halls is essential to the performance of duties.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
1. High school graduation or equivalent.
2. Twelve (12) months of clerical/secretarial work experience comparable to that performed at the next lower level of this series.
3. Any one or combination of the following types of preparation:
(a) Twenty-four (24) months of work experience performing clerical/secretarial work, including use of computer systems; OR
(b) Thirty-six (36) semester hours college or university course work in Office Occupations, Business Administration or Business Education (verify with transcript); OR
(c) -Twenty-four (24) months of vocational training that provided a knowledge of generally accepted clerical procedures comparable to that gained in "b" above (verify with transcript); OR
(d) Sixty (60) semester hours of college or university course work in any curriculum verify with transcript).
Desired Qualifications
1. Ability to continually upgrade knowledge of the application of equipment available for area use (i.e., Personal Computers, software programs, etc.). Ability to apply the knowledge to instruct in the use of these operations and to solve basic problems.
2. Must be knowledgeable about area in which you work since the Area Coordinator, Residence Hall Coordinators, and Service Area Coordinators may change every year.
3. The incumbent must have a positive attitude toward doing the job correctly and safely and knowledge of existing rules and regulations dealing with safe-work practices as outlined by the University.
4. Must have a positive regard and concern for the welfare of fellow employees and persons with whom the incumbent comes into contact with, including but not limited to students.
5. With the wide variety of responsibilities, the incumbent must be flexible and able to organize a number of seemingly conflicting demands.
Salary
$16.04- $16.69 per hour
